WELCOME MESSAGE
Welcome to the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of our university! As the elected body representing the student body, we are dedicated to voicing the concerns, interests, and needs of all students to the university administration. Our goal is to create a positive and inclusive environment for all students to thrive academically, socially, and personally during their time at the university. Through various initiatives, events, and advocacy efforts, we strive to foster a sense of community and work towards enhancing the overall student experience. We are here to serve as your advocates and allies, so feel free to reach out to us with any questions, suggestions, or feedback. We look forward to working together with you to make our university a place where all students can succeed and flourish.
ORGANS OF SRC
The SRC employs a multi-facet approach in its administrative procedures. For effective and inclusive functioning therefore, various blocks have been created through which a holistic dispensation of the mandate of SRC is realized, these blocks are as follows: The Executive Committee, Executive Council, and SRC General Assembly.
The Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is comprised of the SRC President, SRC General Secretary, Financial Secretary, SRC Public Relations Officer; all with their deputies which makes its membership totaling 8. The President oversees all the deliberations and activities of this block. This block establishes structures that would coordinate the affairs of the other organs aforementioned. The Executive Committee is also responsible for submitting the projects and programs of the SRC to the General Assembly at the beginning of every trimester.
The Executive Council
This block of SRC comprises of the Executive Committee, Presidents of JCRs, NUGS Executives, WOCOM, Speaker of the General Assembly and the Judicial Board Chair. The Executive Council serves the primary purpose of counselling and assisting the Executive Committee in the performance of its duties and see to the implementation of the decisions of the General Assembly.
The General Assembly
The General Assembly dubbed SRC GA serves as the parliament of the Students Representative Council of the university. The General Assembly comprises of the Executive Committee and council members, the Secretaries of JCRs, the Presidents and secretaries of Faculty Associations, the chair persons of all committees, one representative from each year group in a faculty/school/department, the EC and deputy, the Judicial board reps, and the leadership of the house including the Rt. Hon. Speaker, the deputy speakers and clerks. The GA serves as the highest decision-making body of the SRC and all issues concerning the students shall be decided at the General Assembly.
