Felicitations

We will work together to establish a welcoming environment in which everyone’s ideas are valued:

Dear fellow students,

As the President of the Student Representative Council, I want to take this opportunity to extend my warmest well wishes to each and every one of you. Whether you are embarking on a new academic journey, working hard to achieve your goals, or simply navigating the challenges of university life, know that you are not alone.

Remember, your SRC is here to support you in any way we can. We are here to listen, advocate for your needs, and create a positive and inclusive campus community for all.

I encourage you to stay focused, stay motivated, and never lose sight of your potential. With hard work, determination, and support from your peers, you can overcome any obstacle and achieve your dreams.

Regardless of the eye-saw woes of our university, be rest assured that you’re in one of the best universities you can find in the country in terms of academic dispensary and and practical universal training. In the wise words of the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University during the 2023/2024 freshers’ orientation, Prof. Emmanuel Derbile “Don’t mind the body, but mind the engine”. Also be rest assured that you’ll graduate from this institution with flying colours and be a hot pick in the job market.

Wishing you all the best throughout your study in UBIDS. Let’s make it a great one!

Warm regards,

H.E Idrisu Hafiz

As the General Secretary of the Student Representative Council (SRC) of our prestigious University, I would like to take a moment to share a message of encouragement and support to you all. Our time as students is filled with challenges, opportunities, and growth, and it is during these transformative years that we have the power to shape our futures. I have a perspective that, your “network is your net wealth”, simply meaning that the people you meet on campus today can determine your career tomorrow, so is very important to mingle and make positive friends towards the future.

First and foremost, I want to remind you that your voices matter. You are not just students; you are active participants in your educational journey, and your perspectives, ideas, and concerns deserve to be heard. The SRC is here to represent you, to amplify your voices, and to advocate for your needs and aspirations. Together, we can foster an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.

I would like to humbly remind my fellow students that, Education is not solely about academics; it is a holistic experience that encompasses personal development, emotional well-being, and social engagement. As the SRC, we are committed to creating an inclusive and enriching campus environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusivity. We will work tirelessly to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, race, ethnicity and among others feels welcome and has equal access to educational resources, opportunities, and support systems within our renowned Institution.

I humbly encourage all of you to actively engage in the student community, avail yourself and participate in clubs, societies, and events that align with your interests and passions. These experiences outside the classroom can be just as valuable as those within, fostering friendships, developing leadership skills, and broadening your horizons.

Kindly remember that success is not solely defined by grades or achievements but by personal growth, resilience, and the ability to overcome obstacles. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, learn from failures, and celebrate every milestone along the way. Your journey as a student is unique, and it is important to focus on your own progress rather than comparing yourself to others.

Lastly, take care of yourselves and prioritize your well-being. Balancing academics, extracurricular activities, and personal life can be demanding, but it is crucial to find a healthy equilibrium. Make time for self-care, maintain a support network of friends and mentors, and seek help when needed. Remember that you are not alone; we are here to support you every step of the way.

Together, let us make this academic year one of collaboration, growth, and positive change. Your ideas, enthusiasm, and engagement are the driving force behind our success and collective efforts as a student body. Feel free to reach out to the SRC with your concerns, suggestions, or any support you may need.

Wishing you all an enriching and fulfilling academic journey ahead.
