West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Candidates and Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE)

The general requirements for admission of WASSCE and SSSCE candidates to first degree programmes are three (3) credit passes in three core subjects and three (3) credit passes in three relevant elective subjects.

  • WASSCE Candidates: Credit Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects, including English language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.

  • SSSCE Candidates: Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.

    • Candidates with D7 in three (3) subject including English Language, Mathematics (core) or three(3) relevant elective subjects are advised NOT to apply for the Degree programmes.
    • For non-science programmes, a grade in Social Studies may be used in place of the grade in Integrated Science in the calculation of their aggregates if the Social Studies grade is better than the grade in Integrated Science. This is however on condition that the candidate has D7 or E8 in Integrated Science.
    • For Science Programmes, however, Social Studies does not replace Integrated Science in the calculation of candidates’ aggregates.


    Calculation of Aggregates
    Below is the WASSCE system for computation of final aggregates. Equivalences are as follows:

    Post-degree Bachelor of Laws (LLB) applicants

  • Candidates seeking admission to 3-years LLB must have a good first degree with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) from a recognised or accredited University/Institution.
  • TVET Candidates

  • Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) canditated seeking admissions to degree programme must have credit passes in three (3) coresubjects including English language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
Mature applications are allowed for all undergraduate programmes except the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Programme. Candidates must be at least 25 years of age and must show documentary evidence.

In addition, must have at least a pass in any of the following:

  • WASSCE/SSSCE, English and Mathematics or any other nationally recognised standard High School level examinations (for qualifications from countries outside WAEC).

  • Date of mature entrance Examinations and Interviews is AUGUST 15, 2025

HND and other Diploma applicants seeking admission into Degree programmes should possess at least a:

  • Second Class Lower or better in related programmes, who may be admitted into Level 200.

  • Third Class or pass shall be considered for admission into Level 100.

To be admitted into a diploma programme, applicant must have at least:

  • Three (2) credits passes in the applicant’s area of specialisation (elective subjects).

  • Two (2) passes (D7, D or better) in English Language and Mathematics in WASSCE/SSSCE.

  • Any other certificate equivalent to the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) recognized in Ghana.

  • Candidates without a pass in English Language, Mathematics (core) or both should NOT apply for the Diploma programmes.

To be admitted into Certificate Programme applicants must be:

  • A working-class individual in public or private sector who desire to acquire knowledge and skills in the relevant area to enhance their work.

  • Other qualifications are five (5) passes including English Language and Mathematics in West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or West African Examination Council Ordinary Level Certificate (‘O’ Level Certificate) or Advance Level Certificate (‘A’ Level Certificate) or their equivalent.

Graduate Admissions

A candidate seeking admission to pursue any of our PhD Programmes must:

  • Have an MPhil/MSc or Equivalent Degree in the relevant field from a recognised University.

  • Submit an official Transcript of academic records, certificates and other relevant documents.

  • Include a proposal on the applicant’s research interest.

  • Must pass a selection interview to be conducted by the University.

Applicants who want to pursue our MPhil/MSc/MA/MPA/MPH Programmes must also:

  • Have obtained a good first degree, at least second Class Lower, in the relevant field of study from a recognized University or Tertiary Institution.

  • Submit an official Transcript of academic records and other relevant documents.

  • Include a short proposal on the applicant’s research interest.

  • Must pass a selection interview to be conducted by the University.

Applicants who want to pursue our MBA/MSC/MA/MPA/MPH and Postgraduate Diploma Programmes must:

  • Have obtained a good first degree, at least Second-Class Lower, in the relevant field of study from a recognised University or Tertiary Institution.

  • Applicants with Third Class in relevant field of study will be considered on a case-by-case basis .

  • Submit Certificate and Transcript of academic records and other relevant documents.

  • Include a short proposal on the applicant’s research interest.
