Prof. Akanbang is an Associate Professor of Development Planning and is the Foundation Dean of the School of Graduate Studies of the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies. He previously served as Head of Department of the Department of Planning between September 2014 and March 2022. He holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Philosophy Degrees in Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and
Technology, Ghana; and a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Ghana. He is a Fellow of the DANIDA Fellowship Center and a DAAD Scholar. He has also been involved in a number of cooperation research projects with resource centers as Water Engineering Development Center (WEDC), Loughborough University, International Water and Sanitation Center (IRC), The Hague among others. He has consulted for many international development organisations as well as public sector organisations in areas as water and sanitation, monitoring and evaluation of development among others.
His current research interests are in monitoring and evaluation of development interventions, rural and urban transformations, water and sanitation planning and management, and urban green spaces planning and management.
