The Directorate of International Collaborations at the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), in partnership with the Ghanaian-European Centre for Jobs, Migration and Development, organized a one-day “Study in Europe Fair” for staff and students on February 27, 2025, at the University’s New Auditorium.

The Session aimed to provide information about study and job opportunities in Europe to the university community to promote “regular migration” to Europe. The broad policy framework of the European Union research funding to Sub-Saharan Africa as well as grant and mobility opportunities under the ERASMUS+ programme were presented to the staff.
Students were also informed about skills shortages and opportunities in Europe, the opportunity Card in Germany, and the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree. To enhance their employability, students were introduced to the EruoPass CV, job search strategies and interview tips.
In his opening address, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Issaka Kanton Osumanu, expressed his appreciation to the Ghanaian-European Centre and the Labour Department team for their collaboration. He encouraged participants to leverage on the insights gained from the fair to advance their education and careers, emphasizing the importance of international exposure in developing intercultural competencies and improving employability.
Prof. Millicent Awialie Akaateba, the Director of International Collaborations and EU Study Desk Officer at the university, provided an overview of the Directorate’s activities and the Study in Europe Desk, urging participants to make full use of the opportunities presented.
The fair was facilitated by a team from the Ghanaian-European Centre, including Mr. Anders Guettou Djurfeldt, Programme Officer of the EU Economic, Private Sector and Trade Section; Mr. Dennis Benneh Diawuo, Technical Advisor at GEC; Ms. Ruth Mansah Mensah, Technical Advisor at GEC; and Mr. Bibariwia Godwin Fuoh from the Upper West Regional Labour Department of the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.
This collaborative effort underscored SDD-UBIDS’ commitment to equipping its students and faculty with valuable international academic and professional development opportunities.
