The Vice-Chancellor of the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), Professor Emmanuel Kanchebe Derbile, led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing, Esq., on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
The visit was to congratulate the Regional Minister on his appointment and to express the University’s willingness to collaborate closely with his office to promote higher education and regional development.
Professor Emmanue Kanchebe Derbile emphasised the important role of universities in driving development, noting that SDD-UBIDS is committed to contributing to the social and economic transformation of the Region. He assured the Minister that Management would follow up with a formal briefing on the current state of the University, ongoing projects, and areas where the Regional Minister’ support would be needed.
In recognition of the Minister’s appointment and the importance of strong institutional ties, Professor Derbile presented two souvenirs to the Regional Minister: a portrait of the President of the Republic of Ghana and a framed photograph of the Regional Minister.
In his response, Hon. Charles Lwanga Puozuing expressed gratitude for the visit and the gesture, pledging his commitment to working closely with the University. He noted that he had always valued the contribution of higher education institutions to the development of the region and looks forward to supporting initiatives that enhance education, entrepreneurship, and youth development.
