On behalf of the Management, staff, students, and the entire University community of the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), I am deeply honoured to join the Department of French of the University of Cape Coast, together with the wider academic community, in celebrating Professor Domwin Dabire Kuupole—a distinguished scholar, accomplished academic leader, and illustrious son of the Upper West Region and of Ghana whose contributions to higher education have left an enduring imprint on Ghana, Africa, and the global academic landscape.
Professor Kuupole’s remarkable career exemplifies an unwavering commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service. As a renowned scholar of French language and literature, he has made outstanding contributions to the advancement of French studies, language education, and academic research in general. Through his extensive scholarship, publications, and mentorship, he has shaped the intellectual development of countless students, academics, and researchers, while helping to strengthen the study of languages and intercultural understanding within Ghana and beyond.
His distinguished contributions to education have earned him numerous national and international honours. Among these is the prestigious distinction of Officer of the Order of Academic Palms (Ordre des Palmes Académiques), conferred by the Government of France in recognition of his exceptional contribution to education and the promotion of Francophone studies. He is also a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Country Awards Council, Ghana, and the Fellowship Honour of the Global Education Network. These recognitions stand as testimony to the profound impact of his scholarship, leadership, and service to humanity.
Beyond his scholarly achievements, Professor Kuupole has distinguished himself as an influential figure in higher education and international academic cooperation. Through his active engagement in global academic networks, promotion of Francophone-Anglophone scholarly collaboration, participation in international conferences, and mentorship of scholars across Africa and beyond, he has contributed significantly to strengthening educational partnerships and advancing intellectual discourse. His insights continue to enrich conversations on university governance, quality assurance, research excellence, institutional transformation, and the role of higher education in addressing contemporary societal challenges.
Professor Kuupole serves as a Member of the University Governing Council of the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies, bringing with him vast experience as former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast. The University is grateful for the guidance, encouragement, wise counsel, and unwavering support that Professor Kuupole has extended to our University since 2023. His genuine interest in the growth and advancement of UBIDS, coupled with his willingness to share his vast experience in university leadership and governance, has been invaluable to our development journey as an institution.
As family, friends, colleagues, former students, students, and admirers gather to honour him through this special conference, UBIDS proudly joins in celebrating an exceptional scholar, an exemplary university administrator, a mentor par excellence, and a distinguished statesman of higher education whose legacy will continue to inspire generations yet unborn.
