DEAN, FACULTY OF PLANNING AND LAND MANAGEMENT (FPLM)
A person seeking appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Planning and Land Management (FPLM) must:
- Be a Professor/Associate Professor in a relevant discipline;
- Show leadership, high quality sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in the discharge of his or her duties;
- Show evidence of capacity for continuous research and dissemination of knowledge in his or her field through technology transfer and publications;
- Have a PhD in a relevant field of specialization;
- Membership of a recognized Professional Body will be an added advantage;
- Be able to serve at least three (3) years before retirement; and
- Be innovative and an excellent business developer, who will be able to enhance the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) and fundraising capability of the Faculty.
Functions as Dean of Faculty of Planning and Land Management
A successful candidate for Dean of Faculty of Planning and Land Management position shall be expected to perform the following functions:
- He/she shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for providing leadership to the Faculty of Planning and Land Management and for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order in accordance with policies and procedures prescribed by Law, the University’s Statutes or as may be determined from time to time by Council, the Academic Board and the Faculty Board;
- He/she shall be the Chairperson of the Faculty Board;
- He/she shall, in consultation with the Heads of Department, be responsible for postgraduate training of the Faculty’s own Graduates and Lecturers on study leave;
- He/she shall co-ordinate the work of the Departments within the Faculty; and
- Performs any other duty(ies) assigned to him/her by the Vice-Chancellor.
DEAN OF STUDENTS
A person seeking appointment as Dean of Students must:
- Be of a Professorial rank or at least rank of a Senior Lecturer;
- Show leadership, high quality sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in the discharge of his or her duties; and
- Be able to serve at least three (3) years before retirement.
Functions as Dean of Students
A successful candidate for Dean of Students position shall be expected to perform the following functions:
- He/she under the direction of the Academic Board shall be responsible for the welfare of Junior Members of the University in relation to academic, residential and social matters;
- He/she is expected to liaise with the Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Heads of Departments, Hall Masters/Wardens, Residence Committee, Chaplaincy Board, Sports and Recreation Committee, the Students Representative Council and the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (UBIDS) on all matters affecting the welfare of students. In particular, the Office of the Dean of Students shall be responsible for and or promote the following relating to Junior Members:
- Accommodation of students in halls of residence and hostels on campus and off campus;
- Chaplaincy services that shall be of a circular nature;
- Guidance and counselling services for Junior Members;
- Sports and Recreation;
- Intra-university, inter-university and international student competitions or meetings;
- Student governing bodies, organizations, clubs and societies; and
- Any other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.
DIRECTOR, DIRECTORATE OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH & BUSINESS INCUBATION (DCOBI)
A person seeking appointment as Director, Directorate of Community Outreach and Business Incubation (DCOBI) must:
- Be of a professorial rank or at least rank of a Senior Lecturer;
- Show leadership, high quality sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision and professionalism in the discharge of his or her duties;
- Show evidence of capacity for continuous research and dissemination of knowledge in his or her field through technology transfer and publications;
- Have a PhD in a relevant field of specialization;
- Membership of a recognized Professional Body will be an added advantage;
- Be able to serve at least three (3) years before retirement; and
- Be innovative and an excellent business developer, who will be able to enhance the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) and fundraising capability of the Directorate.
Functions as Director of Community Outreach and Business Incubation
A successful candidate for Director of Community Outreach and Business Incubation position shall be expected to perform the following functions:
- Coordinate the University-wide community outreach programme;
- Identify innovative sources of funding for supporting and sustaining community outreach programmes for consideration of Academic Board;
- Develop and advise Academic Board on (i) curricular for university-wide and Faculty/School specific community outreach programmes in collaboration with Faculties and Schools, (ii) innovations on how the community-outreach programme can promote business incubation through the joint efforts of students and Faculty, and (iii) how these business ideas can benefit the business and private sector and promote economic growth and equity in development;
- Develop and advise Academic Board on how the Directorate can build on the community-outreach programme for supporting the research agenda of the University, and in particular, enable joint Faculty and student research and publications;
- Liaise with the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance to advice management on how to ensure standards and integrity in practical training of students;
- Promote policy Advocacy and Consultancy Services (ACS). The Directorate is required to using a system for data capturing, updating and management of businesses and development in collaboration with the Directorate of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT). This will support development extension activities of the University and support the provision of consultancy services to the private sector, international development agencies, non-governmental organizations and the Local Government Service (District and Municipal Assemblies); and
- Performs any other duty(ies) assigned to him/her by the Vice-Chancellor.
