On Friday, April 5, 2024 marked the significant beginning of extension of many but first expansion of the University Hospital that has served not only staff and students of the University but the surrounding communities and the Wa township. The construction of two (2) new wards each with six (6) hospital beds, two (2) consulting room, a Nurse Station and a waiting area. The idea to construct the student clinic was moved by the Director of Finance, Mr. Abdulai Suglo in 2020, he proposed levying every first-year student to gather funds for this project and today, we are witnessing the completion of the project.
At the ceremony marking this milestone, we had the presence of Prof. Kanton I. Osumanu, the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, along with Ing. Reginald Assibey-Ankrah, the Director of Works and Municipal Service, leading the project management team. Joseph Bagah, Director General Administration, Registrar’s Representative; Fidelis Z Tang, Director, University Relation; Remy Nyenie, Hospital Administrator and the University hospital team; Philip Twum, representing Internal Auditor; Joseph W. Gyelaa, Ag. Head, Directorate of Procurement and his team and Balan Aeron, Director of Information Management Services representative. These are the representatives from the University.
The rest at the ceremony are the Contractor and his team, Mr. Ziblim Yahaya is Managing Director of ZY2020 Company Limited who constructed the facility. He was assisted by Mr. Alhassan Abdul Gafara, Quantity Surveyor of ZY2020 Company Limited.
The official final handing over of the project will be done in six months from now after the defect liability period.
