On January 6, 2025, the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS) made a legacy stride by inaugurating its Accra Office to strengthen partnerships and enhance collaboration with key stakeholders for the development of the University.

The Council Chairman, Kweku Yamoah Paintsil, Esq., who chaired the event and officially inaugurated the Office, led the Team in a prayer and dedication of the Office to God.  In the Chairman’s opening remarks, he commended the Vice-Chancellor and University Management for the good initiative of setting up the Accra Office.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Kanchebe Derbile, underscored the strategic importance of the Office which is primarily to facilitate fundraising, facilitate research collaboration, and foster engagement with government agencies, donor organisations, and corporate partners. He expressed gratitude to those who contributed in many ways to the acquisition of the Office and called for continued support in advancing SDD-UBIDS’ mission. He, particularly, thanked the Chairman of Council and Members of Council for approving the proposal to establish the Accra Office and laying a solid foundation for the University’s progress. He also expressed gratitude to the Head of Local Government Service, Dr. Ing. Nana Ato Arthur, and his staff for supporting the University to acquire the office. His efforts in making available space for temporary use at the Old Block of the Headquarters of the Local Government Office, Accra, was lauded by the Vice Chancellor.

On her part, Dr. Philomina Nyarko, a member of the Council, commended the Management for the milestone in acquiring the facility and admonished Management to use it for the intended purpose to benefit lecturers, students, the University Community and the wider society.

Professor Prosper B. Laari, an academic staff of the University tasked with leading the process for the acquisition of a property and or land, briefed members on the ongoing efforts and the progress made so far.  Mr. Raphael Bokumah, Senior Assistant Registrar (Accra Office), highlighted the Office’s role as a hub for fundraising, resource mobilization and networking with development partners.

In his concluding remarks, the Chairman of Council, Kweku Yamoah Paintsil, Esq., assured the Vice-Chancellor and the University community of his continued support to the University Administration.

Also present at the inauguration were Mr. Abdulai Suglo, Former Director of Finance and Mr. Fidelis Z. Tang, Director of University Relations.
