The Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies was established in 2019 by an Act of Parliament; Act, 2019 (Act,1001) as a public tertiary institution to be an outstanding internationally acclaimed applied research and practical-oriented educational institution, dedicated to the development of business and integrated development studies and related matters. The University is located in Wa, the capital of the Upper West Region of Ghana.
THE POSITIONS
Dean, School of Law
The School of Law came into being in the 2022/23 academic year. The siting of the law faculty in SDD-UBIDS in Wa provides a unique geographic site for legal education in the five regions of northern Ghana. Among the unique features associated with the School is its supervised third-trimester field legal clinical checks.
The SDD-UBIDS has a vacancy for the position of Dean for its School of Law, which started operation in the 2022/2023 academic year.
A person seeking appointment as Dean, School of Law must:
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide operational and strategic leadership that supports the vision, mission, and goals of the University.
2. Provide leadership and oversight of departmental plans relating to academic programs, curriculum, scheduling, and learning environments to assure institutional effectiveness and efficiencies, respond to student needs, and meet accreditation and regulatory requirements.
3. Ensure that the school plans align with and support the University’s mission, vision, and strategic initiatives.
4. Provide supervision and guidance to faculty and staff within the School;
5. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
6. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with business and industry partners, agencies, community organizations, and/or education institutions.
7. Actively participate in professional development relevant to higher education and their disciplinary field.
8. Perform any other duty that may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor
Qualification and Experience
1. Terminal degree from a recognized and accredited higher education institution in the field related to an academic area within the discipline of Law.
2. Experience in higher education in a field relevant to the School of Law.
3. Experience in managing programmes and faculty in higher education.

Tenure of Office
The Dean shall hold office for a period of three (3) years and, shall be eligible, upon completion, for reappointment for a second consecutive term only. Applicants should be able to complete the first term of three years before reaching the retirement age of sixty (60) years. Where a Dean is not of a Professorial status, he or she shall hold office for two years and be eligible for reappointment.
DIRECTOR OF UNIVERSITY HEALTH SERVICES
The Director of University Health Services shall be the Head of the Directorate of University Health Services.
Duties/ Responsibilities
The Director of Health Services shall:
1. Be the Head of the Directorate of University Health Services;
2. The Director of University Health Services shall be responsible for the provision of preventive, personal, environmental, and public health services in the University and to the University community.
3. Provide leadership to all staff in the University Health Facilities;
4. Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of health services to members of the University and their families;
5. Exercise professional and administrative supervision over the entire medical, paramedical, and all other staff within the University Health Services;
6. Plan and monitor the development of the University Hospital and its health programmes;
7. Ensure that the University Hospital provides regular health extension services to the adjoining communities;
8. Provide advice and education on health matters, and
9. Perform any other assignments that the Vice-Chancellor deems necessary.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
The Candidate must have the following qualifications:
1. A Postgraduate degree holder from a recognized Institution of Higher Learning in relevant specialization.
2. Membership and/or fellowship of recognized and relevant professional bodies would be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Experience
1. The Director shall possess a postgraduate degree and have, at least, ten years post-qualification experience as a licensed specialist in a health-related field.
2. A broad knowledge base experience in the development and implementation of policies and operation procedures, quality assurance, coordinating and implementing research.
3. Evidence of research output and experience in service development. (Must have at least eight (8) papers/publications/reports/memoranda as evidence of contribution to health delivery).
4. Ability to lead in academic programmes in the area of health would be an added advantage.
Skills and Abilities

Tenure of Office
1. The Director of University Health Services shall hold office for four (4) years in the first instance and up to four (4) years for the second term.
2. He/ She should be able to work for at least four (4) years before attaining the statutory retirement age of sixty (60) years.
DIRECTOR OF SPORTS;
The Director of Sports shall be the head of the Sports Directorate and report to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar.
Duties/Responsibilities
The successful applicant will have oversight responsibility of the following:
1. Ensure the development of sports and related activities;
2. The organisation of sporting events;
3. Liaise with external sports organisations;
4. Oversee the management of the Sports Directorate;
5. Advise the Academic Board on matters relating to the award of academic credit for students’ participation in sports;
6. Organise sports clinics for members of the University;
7. Represent the University on external sporting bodies;
8. Prepare University teams for sporting events;
9. The discharge of any other assignments that the Registrar may deem necessary;
10. Should be able to teach physical education;

QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
1. The applicant seeking to be the Director of Sports should possess a research master’s degree, plus a professional qualification in sports, physical education, or psychology;
2. Satisfactory performance as Senior Sports Coordinator and a minimum waiting period of four (4) years or twelve (12) years relevant post-qualification experience in practicing firm, industry, commerce, or public service, is required for promotion to the position of Senior Sports Coordinator;
3. Have considerable strategic, interpersonal, managerial, and collegial skills and should be able to function within the higher education sector;
4. Have high-level analytical skills, and business sense as well as a deep understanding and appreciation of the strategic and operational issues and challenges in top-level management and administration;
5. Be conversant with and have experience in sports development and sport for development;
6. Be performance-driven and must be keen to achieve results;

DIRECTOR OF PROCUREMENT
THE POSITION
The Director of Procurement is the Head of the Procurement Directorate of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor through the Registrar for the provision of effective leadership and the promotion of good governance per the Regulations of the University. He/she shall, among other duties, supervise the maintenance and updating of a proper database of suppliers, service providers, and consultants, prepare procurement plans for goods, works, and services for the University, assist in the process of advertising tenders and provide input for the formulation of procurement strategy for the University.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
A person seeking appointment as Director of Procurement must:
1. Hold a minimum Master’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or other related disciplines;
2. Have a recognized professional qualification in the field of Procurement;
3. Have satisfactory performance as a Deputy Procurement Officer in a university or its equivalent in an analogous Institution.;
Or
A minimum of 12 years post-qualification experience as a Procurement Professional in a reputable and practicing firm, industry, commerce, and/or public service with requisite experience in Public Procurement;
1. Be a distinguished professional with the capacity to motivate and direct staff;
2. Be above reproach and must exhibit a high sense of industry, leadership qualities, and organizational skills; and
3. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
A person seeking an appointment as a Structural Engineer must:
Qualification Required & Experience
1. Hold a minimum of Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
2. Should be a member of a relevant Professional Body
3. Must have at least two years of relevant post-qualification experience
4. Must be computer literate in a relevant software programme.
Duties/ Responsibilities
1. Supervised all ongoing projects (minor and major) and attending site meetings:
2. Liaising with Consultants on University projects.
3. Preparing progress reports on an ongoing project
4. Architectural engineers may begin a project by meeting with architects to discuss structural designs.
5. Ascertain load, power, and structural requirements
6. Analyse sketches, blueprints, and models for environmental, acoustic, and safety issues.
7. Establish mechanisms to deal with potential structural issues.
8. Assisting projects with value engineering or financial control mechanisms of contacts during the construction stage.
Ensure any new equipment or engineering activity is supported with appropriate qualification documentation.
DEPUTY REGISTRAR OR SENIOR ASSISTANT REGISTRAR – ACCRA OFFICE
Qualification & Experience Required
The applicant must:
1. Hold a minimum of a full-time Master’s Degree in a relevant field;
2. Be a Deputy Registrar or have served satisfactorily for a minimum of four (4) years as a Senior Assistant Registrar or its equivalent in an analogous Institution and or have a minimum of fifteen (15) years relevant administrative experience from the private sector or no for-profit sector;
3. Be a member of a recognized professional body; and
4. Be computer literate.
Duties/ Responsibilities
1. Provide senior-level management leadership of the Accra Office and administrative support of the headquarters in Wa;
2. In charge of the day-to-day administration of the Accra Office;
3. Provide fundraising and grantsmanship support services;

5. Facilitate collaboration with international and national stakeholders
SENIOR ASSISTANT REGISTRAR ACCRA OFFICE
Qualification & Experience Required
The applicant must:
1. Hold a minimum of a full-time Master’s Degree in a relevant field;
2. Be a Senior Assistant Registrar or have served satisfactorily for a minimum of five (5) years in a university as an Assistant Registrar or its equivalent in an analogous Institution and or have twelve (12) years relevant administrative experience from the private sector or no for-profit sector;
3. Be a member of a recognized professional body; and
4. Be computer literate.

1. Provide senior-level management leadership of the Accra Office of SDD-UBIDS;
