The University invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the Dean of the School of Education and Life-Long (SoELL) position, which becomes vacant on October 31, 2024. THE POSITION:
A person seeking appointment as Dean, School of Education and Life-Long (SoELL) must:

i. Be a Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in a relevant discipline;
ii. Show evidence of leadership, sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, and professionalism in the discharge of his or her duties;
iii. Show evidence of capacity for scholarship and continuous research and dissemination of knowledge in his or her field through publications;
iv. Have a PhD; and
v. Be able to serve at least a minimum of three (3) years prior to attaining the Statutory Retirement age of sixty (60) years.

Functions as Dean
A successful candidate for the appointment of Dean of the school shall be expected to perform the following functions:
(a) He/she shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for providing leadership to the School and for maintaining and promoting efficiency and good order in accordance with policies and procedures prescribed by Law, the University’s Statutes, or as may be determined from time to time by Council, the Academic Board and the School Board;
(b) He/she shall be the Chairperson of the School Board;
(c) He/she shall, in consultation with Heads of Department have oversight responsibility for postgraduate training in the School and staff development,
(d) He/she shall coordinate the work of the Departments within the school; and
(e) Performs any other duty(ies) assigned to him/her by the Vice-Chancellor.
