The University invites applications from suitably qualified members of Convocation to fill the following vacancy:

1. Position: Pro Vice-Chancellor

A person seeking appointment as Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University must:

  1. Be of a Professorial status;
  2. Show leadership, sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision, and professionalism in the discharge of his or her duties;
  3. Show evidence of capacity for continuous research and dissemination of knowledge in his or her field through technology transfer and publications;
  4. Have a PhD in a relevant field of specialization; and
  5. Be able to serve at least a minimum of three (3) years prior to attaining the Statutory Retirement Age of sixty (60) years.

Functions as Pro Vice-Chancellor
A successful candidate for the Pro Vice-Chancellor position shall be expected to perform the following functions:

  1. The Pro Vice-Chancellor shall be the Deputy to the Vice-Chancellor and shall exercise powers as specified in Act 1001 (2019) and the Statutes of the University and such other powers as the Vice-Chancellor may delegate to him or her;
  2. The Pro Vice-Chancellor shall be assigned duties as specified in the Statutes of the University, and;
  3. The Pro Vice-Chancellor shall perform the functions of the Vice-Chancellor in the absence of the Vice-Chancellor.

Mode of Application:
Applicants should submit the following:

  1. An application letter (Times New Roman, font size 12 and 1.5 line spacing);
  2. A vision statement of not more than three pages (Times New Roman, font size 12 and 1.5 line spacing) outlining how the applicant would contribute to the University’s Mission and Vision and the strategies for achieving the vision during his/her tenure of office as Pro Vice-Chancellor;
  3. A Curriculum Vitae (CV) including names and addresses of three (3) referees who can attest to the qualities and character of the applicant;
  4.  Seven (7) hard copies of the application must be hand-delivered in a sealed envelope or by registered courier marked “Application for Pro Vice-Chancellor, SDD-UBIDS”, to the Registry of the University and signed for;
  5. Soft copies of all applications must also be submitted via email to: provcvacancy@ubids.edu.gh;
  6. The applicant should request the three (3) referees indicated in the CV to submit reports on him/her directly to the following email address: provcvacancy@ubids.edu.gh.
