The National and Local Executives of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) on April 1, 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), Professor Emmanuel Kanchebe Derbile, at his office. It was to formally convey the Association’s gratitude for the University’s support in hosting the GBA’s 2025 National Annual Conference, the first in the Association’s history to be organised in Wa, Upper West Region.
The delegation, comprising Ubeidu Siddique, Esq., the Regional President of the GBA, Upper West, and other members of both National and Local Executives of the Association, was led by Efua Ghartey, Esq., the National President of the GBA. The Registrar, Dr. Job Asante, welcomed the delegation and introduced the University’s representatives in attendance.
Addressing the meeting, Mrs. Ghartey, Esq., described 2025 as a landmark year for the Association, noting that the national conference held in Wa was historic, the first of its kind for the GBA. She explained that the successful organisation of the conference depended on identifying and engaging a key institutional partner with the capacity to provide the requisite facilities and support. In this regard, she indicated that when the Association approached the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies, the Vice-Chancellor warmly received the request and graciously made available the Main Auditorium and several lecture halls for the duration of the conference, an intervention she described as pivotal to the success of the event.
She further noted that the conference was a resounding success and, on behalf of the delegation, expressed profound gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, University Management, and the entire UBIDS community for their exceptional hospitality and strong spirit of partnership.

Prof. Derbile also highlighted the significant benefit that the presence of senior legal practitioners on campus had afforded UBIDS students and staff, opening avenues for mentorship, professional networking, and deeper collaboration between the University and the legal profession. He underscored inter-institutional partnership as a cornerstone of the University’s development agenda.
