The Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), School of Law, organised an orientation on February 22, 2024, at Lecture Hall One for its Level 100 students. Present at the event were the Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Directorate of University Relations, staff, the Acting University Librarian, and the Heads of the Department of the School. In his welcoming address, the Consultant Dean, Prof. Kwadwo Appiagye-Atua, emphasised the significance of enrolling with UBIDS’ School of Law. He, however, highlighted the complexities of studying a law programme. Prof. Appiagye-Atua stressed the importance of mindset in navigating the discipline and encouraged students to excel academically despite the challenges of limited infrastructure since Management has put in significant efforts to improve them. His address concluded on effective programme management, group studies, time management, and consistency of class attendance. The Heads of the Departments of Public Law and Private Law addressed the commitment required to complete the LLB programme. They referred to the Ghana Legal Council regulatory policies guiding the running of law school programmes in the Country. The School’s Examination Officer elaborated on examination procedures, emphasising punctuality and adherence to examination rules and regulations. The School Officer addressed registration issues, communication protocols, fee payment, student portal login, and course selection. He concluded that matriculation was compulsory for all students and that they needed to sign the matriculation oath.
