The Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS) joined the Lawra Traditional Area in celebrating the Kobine Festival on October 8, 2024. A four-member delegation, led by the Director of University Relations, represented the University at this grand cultural event.
Before the programme commenced, the SDD-UBIDS team paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief, Naa Puowele Karbo III, who is also the President of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs and a member of the SDD-UBIDS Governing Council. During the visit, the delegation expressed the University’s commitment to strengthening ties with traditional authorities and fostering community development. The Paramount Chief warmly welcomed the team and lauded SDD-UBIDS for its active participation in regional cultural activities and its contributions to educational and social advancement in the area.
The 2024 celebration included colorful cultural displays, traditional hunting demonstrations, and performances that captivated the audience. The festival brought together dignitaries, institutions, and community members, reinforcing the significance of culture in societal development. During the festival, the SDD-UBIDS team engaged in productive discussions with various stakeholders, including local leaders, individuals, and students from Senior High Schools, Vocational Schools, and Senior High Technical Schools. These interactions presented an opportunity to showcase the University’s diverse academic programmes. Flyers and brochures highlighting the University’s study programmes and admission criteria were distributed to enhance the institution’s enrolment drive and outreach.
Speaking on behalf of the University, the Director of University Relations emphasised the importance of such cultural events in fostering stronger connections between the University and its communities. He reiterated SDD-UBIDS’ commitment to supporting initiatives that promote socio-economic and cultural development.
Through its participation in the Kobine Festival, SDD-UBIDS reinforced its role as a key development partner in the Lawra Traditional Area, aligning with its mission to promote regional integration and academic excellence.
