The University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS) has officially matriculated 2,301 fresh students at its 6th Matriculation Ceremony held on Friday, February 21, 2026, at the New Auditorium. This ceremony formally inducted the students into the University community for the 2025/2026 Academic Year.

Delivering his address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Kanchebe Derbile, described the occasion as a defining milestone in the lives of the matriculants and a significant moment in the continuing growth of the University.
He welcomed the students into the UBIDS family and reminded them that matriculation signifies full membership in the academic community, with all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities that accompany it.
For the 2025/2026 Academic Year, the University matriculated: Diploma: 868 students (458 females, 410 males); Degree: 1,030 students (448 females, 582 males); Master’s: 205 students (48 females, 157 males); PhD: 95 students (9 females, 86 males); and Post-F
irst Degree Law (L200): 103 students (9 females, 94 males).
The Vice-Chancellor commended the increasing enrolment figures but also highlighted the need to improve female representation at the postgraduate level, particularly at the PhD stage.
Professor Derbile reiterated that UBIDS continues to expand both academically and infrastructurally. He noted that in January this year, he had the opportunity to cut sod for the University to commence construction of a 1,000-capacity multipurpose hostel and lecture theatre complex under a Public–Private Partnership (PPP–BJOT) arrangement. The project is expected to improve student accommodation and teaching facilities significantly.
He assured students that the University remains committed to providing a conducive learning environment supported by qualified faculty, improved infrastructure, and strategic partnerships.
The Vice-Chancellor urged the matriculants to pursue academic excellence with discipline, integrity, and focus. He cautioned against examination malpractices and other forms of academic misconduct, stressing that adherence to the University’s regulations is non-negotiable.
He further encouraged students to manage their time wisely, seek guidance when necessary, and remain committed to their academic goals.
By virtue of the authority vested in him, Professor Derbile formally declared the 2,301 students duly matriculated as bona fide members of the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies.

The ceremony was attended by members of Management, faculty and staff.
