WA, GHANA – Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), through its Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (DAPQA), has collaborated with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to train academic leaders on the new Accreditation Management Information System (AMIS).

The one-day workshop, held on September 1, 2025, provided Heads of Department, Directorate of Academic Affairs, and Directorate of Information Management Services staff with hands-on training for processing programme accreditation electronically. This initiative is designed to enhance efficiency, ensure transparency, and maintain full compliance with national higher education standards.

Prof_Kenneth_Peprah_UBIDSRepresenting the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Kanchebe Derbile, Professor Kenneth Peprah, Director of DAPQA, framed the training as essential for the Uuniversity’s future. He noted, “This timely training does more than just ensure compliance with GTEC; it empowers our academic leaders and reaffirms UBIDS’s commitment to leading in quality assurance through digital innovation.”

The workshop was facilitated by GTEC experts; Mr. Benjamin Hackman, Head of the Department of Management Information Systems, and Mr. Hussein Alhassan, Software Engineer. They provided a comprehensive overview of the AMIS platform, leading participants through step-by-step submission guidelines, strategies for troubleshooting common challenges, and hands-on practice in preparing, uploading, and managing programme documents.

Participants unanimously praised the training for its immediate practical value. One remarked, “The hands-on session was eye-opening. I now feel confident that I can personally upload and track programmes on the platform.” Another highlighted the efficiency gains, stating, “This new system will save us significant time and paperwork. I am excited about how it will speed up programme approvals.” A third participant noted the systemic benefits: “The digital shift is a welcome innovation. It enhances transparency and ensures that no detail is lost in the accreditation process.”

This successful collaboration between UBIDS and GTEC is a significant milestone in the University’s ongoing commitment to leveraging digital transformation for unparalleled academic excellence and operational efficiency.
