A two-member delegation comprising Dame Agnes A. Gandaa, Executive Secretary of the Tamale Ecclesiastical Province Pastoral Conference (TEPPCON), and Mr. Peter Yang-Bio, the Provincial Partnership Coordinator, on March 19, 2026, presented a copy of the commemorative publication to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies, Professor Emmanuel Kanchebe Derbile, at his office. The presentation was made on behalf of TEPPCON in honour of the late Cardinal Peter Porekuu Dery.
The Book, titled Cardinal Peter Porekuu Dery: A Man of Faith and a Man for Others, donated to the University Library, seeks to preserve and promote Ghana’s rich religious and cultural heritage while illuminating the life, values, and enduring legacy of Cardinal Dery for the benefit of students, researchers, and the broader academic community.
Receiving the donation on behalf of Management, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Derbile expressed his profound appreciation to the delegation, noting that the mere mention of Cardinal Dery’s name evokes the memory of an extraordinary and revered figure. He commended TEPPCON for the initiative and appealed for additional copies of the publication to enhance accessibility for students and the youth, thereby deepening their understanding of the Cardinal’s contributions to both Church and society.
The occasion provided a moment of reflection, as the Vice-Chancellor underscored the importance of preserving Ghana’s cultural and religious heritage through scholarly works. He further emphasised the collective responsibility of religious leaders, academics, and the laity in sustaining and transmitting such values to future generations.
In their remarks, the delegation indicated that the publication forms part of broader efforts by the Bishops of the Province to document and disseminate the legacy of Cardinal Dery, who played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Province and its structures in 1977. They expressed optimism that the Book would serve as an important resource within the University Library, ensuring that generations of students continue to learn from his exemplary life and contributions.
Also present at the ceremony were: the Registrar, Dr. Job Asante, and the Director of University Relations, Dr. Fidelis Z. Tang.
